I'm a student and WIFI is expectedly ubiquitous but AT&T gets no service in class and the dorms. Thus, I saw no point to a data plan (please, spare me the lecture on how "useless" my 8900 is without it).

I'd much prefer to use OpenDNS to our school ISP's congested servers. Is there any way to change my preferred DNS server ONLY for my phone (no administrative access to routers)?

Consider Opera mini or Bolt as they use thier own DNS. There use their own servers to bring webpages to the phone.

I use both Opera Mini and Bolt in addition to the BB browser. I'm also eagerly anticipating Skyfire.

I don't mind Opera and Bolt, it's just that text renders so much better on the default browser and I can zoom in steps. I prefer to use OpenDNS more on principle than on practicality. When the network gets congested, I just step away and go for a walk until peak hours end. I would have gotten an open-source phone if OpenMoko weren't such a crappy device.
