At least in 4.5. It shouldn't be much differrent in 6.0.

The phone should automatically select WiFi over network. You can easilly check that by checking your data usage before and after.

Open manage connections, then check service status, it will tell you what you are connected to.

Yes, but generally both the wifi AND mobil network are active.
