I am currently renting a house in the USA and have my UK blackberry with me. I would like to connect to the wifi in the house (to save on data charges).

The house has a linksys wireless router with no security. When i first arrived my blackberry connected with no trouble, but that only lasted about 20minutes. Nothing changed in the router settings, the only thing was that other laptops connected to the wireless router.

Now the blackberry won't connect saying "failed to obtain IP address"

I then entered the IP address manually on the wifi options on the bb and after doing that it says it connects (has linksys on the homescreen) however it is not a green tick but a dash on the menu.

The wireless is working because other laptops connect to it.
I have reset the router numerous times and still no joy.

I have spent ages looking through forums and found nothing like this problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are the laptops obtaining the IP automatically or manually? If not, I would enter them manually on the other devices and see what happens. If that doesn't work, perhaps the obvious would be to do a full system reset. Good luck!
