In my Desktop Manager in the bottom left it says "Device Connected (PIN): none" or it shows my PIN when my device is connected.
I don't have a server status.
What version of DM are you using?
Go to control panel and uninstall DM. When it asks if you want to uninstall user settings, say no or you will uninstall your OS.
Reboot PC. Reinstall DM and this time when you get to the question of corporate or personal, select personal and you should be all set.
See, there are no bad cops :) although...

amazinglygraceless, thank you! I followed your directions and now my DM says what Flurrycat's does.
I do need one more question answered. When I do syncs, I never want a sync with my Address Book again, because it messes it up on my BB, leaving the "-" out of phone numbers, giving double entries, etc. So I need to get rid of that automatic sync.
In the DM Sync Box, there are 4 boxes to check,
1 - disabled
2 - no sync with organized data
3 - execute Add-on action
4 - Update device date and time.
I left the first 2 boxes un-checked. Should that prevent Contacts (Address Book) syncs? Thanks
