My brother in law lives in Moscow and owns a Bold. He is on MTS. Oddly there is no wifi on the phone, no PIN messaging and no BB messenger. What is this and how could it be solved?

if theres no wifi and no option to PIN message, sounds like it could be a china clone/fake phone.
if it is indeed a real Blackberry device, are you sure its a Bold 9000? if so, it sounds like he doesnt have it properly set up on his account for blackberry data. wifi should be there regardless though.
when you say theres no wifi, are you saying there are no wifi options in the menu or just that he cannot connect via wifi? you need to be more specific.
Thank you for the replies. Rest assured it is a bold on bes. I am a noob here but I've been through a lot in terms of phones. All is OK in the phone but when you PIN a message It does not gets sent. No where in the menus or options a sign of wifi. The wifi icon is missing in setup.

Is his device on a BIS or a BES? There's a difference, BlackBerry Messenger, WiFi and PIN messaging could be disabled by the company which provides him the device via the device's IT policy if he is indeed on a BES.
