On my last 5 trips overseas I have noticed that if I keep the mobile network off, but connect to a wifi hotspot - BES/BIS will not connect (although I can surf the web and so forth without issue).
If I turn on the mobile network and receiving roaming data for approximately 1 minute or so, then turn off the mobile network - the WIFI logo will go white and I will be able to connect to the BES/BIS servers via WIFI.
It seems like I must do this every few hours or so, and definitely whenever I leave country A and go to country B.
Is there some sort of authentication that must go through the mobile network first before allowing wifi to connect to the BES/BIS servers?
