    Post 'n runs suck.

3 out of 5 exploits involved NFC. The iPhone 5s one did not as the unit doesn't have NFC. The exploit for that one involved the browser, I believe. Also, Windows Phone successfully staved off its attack (partial success but overall the hack did not succeed).

    Well, here's the rub.

Contestants can select the target they want to compromise during pre-registration. The details, including exact OS version, applications, firmware and model numbers will be coordinated after pre-registration. The following targets are available for selection:

    • Amazon Fire Phone
    • Apple iPhone 5s
    • Apple iPad Mini with Retina Display
    • BlackBerry Z30
    • Google Nexus 5
    • Google Nexus 7
    • Nokia Lumia 1520
    • Samsung Galaxy S5
Nowhere does it even say BlackBerry was tested, that I can find. They were seemingly an option, that no one took. Perhaps cause it was harder.

Interesting. On one side you can say no one decide to tackle the Z30 because of its low adoption, but on the other hand you would imagine hacking "a BlackBerry" has to have some extra allure.

Clearly they went for the easier targets. BlackBerry would have been tested last if tested at all.

This isn't the first time I hear about the ios browser exploit. Seems like they're using it as a local root file browser with full read excess to mostly all private information. Pretty impressive how they're able to change permissions

Maybe. These sort of things are usually filled with people who are looking to make a name and get attention though. I'd say it's more that than fear of the BlackBerry. After all, BlackBerry has been compromised before at such events.

BlackBerry OS 6 was hacked in the initial release.
They just started using the Website engine for the browser and that contained a flaw.

Very impressive as BlackBerry OS was a "black box"

Also, not sure if people caught it but BlackBerry actually sponsored the event along with Google. Not that matters, just pointing it out.
