We have 4 bb's in our house and two contracts are coming up for renewal, I am not too confident about the future of BlackBerry unless someone can tell me otherwise, so what should I do, stick with BlackBerry or look at an alternative?

Don't bother with BlackBerry. Z10, z30, or even z3000. It's excellent hardware is useless. Cos it needs great software. And it's programmers are demoralised with layoffs so do you think they can work well?

I gave BlackBerry chances and excuses. The last straw is when they made my message history disappeared with the latest update.

People complained about this bug 8 weeks ago and they haven't fix it, yet prompt us to update our phone! They could have suspend all updates until bug is fixed.

    Shows that BlackBerry doesn't listen.

You can buy another BlackBerry with the confidence that it will continue to be around. There are a lot of garbage theories floating around, but you won't be disappointed if you stick with BB.

Have you considered iPhones for all? It would make sense for you guys, since its so easy to share files, music and movies with each other, and have a family Photostream, where you can share pictures. Hook up an Apple TV to your TV, and you really have an unbeatable combination, IMHO.

Staying with Blackberry is a gamble. Considering that major carriers in the US are withdrawing Blackberries from their stores, its not even certain that the Z30 will be available where you live.

I'd say, go for four iPhones, and if Blackberry is still around in two years when the contract expires, you can always switch back...

Blackberry have just said that from now on they will focus on the enterprise and prosumer markets. So unless you and your family have enterprise and prosumer needs go with Android or Iphone. Blackberry are abandoning the consumer market.

A thoughtful honest response taking in to consideration the OP's individual position.

Refreshing to see its not a selfish answer of spewing "z30" without any logical reasoning behind it, yet Crackberry are the first to call out carrier sales staff when they blindly recommend iPhone or Android to customers going in to buy a Blackberry.

Yes, when they commanded over 50% market share of the smartphone world they helped invent.

Then iPhone and Android came, and reinvented it. BlackBerry can't "just go back", they are ALREADY serving that market and struggling. Nokia are winning contracts, iOS, Samsung.

So nope... don't be silly, next please.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 and 9900 are still top quality phones. Failing that if you want a newer OS the Q5 is pretty good.

"Next please"? Is this a lineup?

Nobody "re-invented" the smartphone market...simply expanded on it.

Apple took a media player and added a cell phone to it. Google has done nothing innovative or revolutionary...and has the buggiest OS on the planet.

BlackBerry invented the smartphone...the rest added to it....nothing more.

They added experience, full syncing between devices and services like email calendar files photos, ability to connect devices to your phone such as game pads, keyboards, flash drives , ability to mirror your phone to other devices and monitors wirelessly, an entire eco system of APPS that reshape your mobile experience.

But in your mind, they just added a mp3 player Lmao wow the ignorance of some people, this is why I said next please, your unable to participate in this discussion if your knowledge is limited to..
    "Just added a media player"

So thatsss why blackberry only has >2% market share, they missed out on media players, it all makes sense now lol

The man does have a point...

If you like tweaking and geeking out on your phone, Android can be a good choice.

But this is coming from somebody who spent a couple of years with the platform. Android has its issues. A lot of them.

Spyware apps and checking permissions is just a part of it. The general quality of apps is also below what you'll find in Apples AppStore.

And if we're talking about phones for the whole family, including kids, the immense amount of hardcore porn apps in Googles Play store is also a concern...
