just received my new 8320 "unlocked" from the states (am posted in Baghdad at the moment). Wanted to register online with the local provider, when they asked for PIN and IMEI number, they told me my unit was registered with another carrier, and to re-register my unit. Phone is working no prob, so "unlock" is working as far as that goes. What do I do? I want to get hooked up asap so I can keep in touch with the family back home.

I think you have to call or email tmo and have them release the imei.
Good luck and God bless you for serving our country!

Spoke to t-mobile - via email - and they said they cannot do anything!

Do you think RIM would help with this?

Any further ideas? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
