new trackball problems?

Got a new trackball that I just installed because I screwed up the old one trying to clean it. Anywho, it doesn't work very well vertically. I tried flipping the housing around 180 degrees and that didn't help. I guess my questin is about any sort of break in period for a new ball? Since it is all new nd clean, am I just not used to it or should it work great from go?

Make sure it's seated properly all the way around.

There is no break in period. You just have to be very carefull when putting on the silver retaining ring, that the ball doesn't shift and get misaligned.
