    Hello,

I'm waiting for my new Priv to arrive by mail. It's important that I don't become dead in the water while I get my new phone set-up. Is it possible to keep my old phone active and connect my new phone to wifi without activating it so I can download the apps I need from the Google store, and configure my companies email before I activate it? I just want to avoid any missed communications that might occur if the set-up doesn't go smoothly.

    Thanks

Yes. That's what I typically do with each new device.

As far as I know, the only device exception is an iPhone on OS 10.x or later.

Edit: I neglected to say that the iPhone does require the sim to be in place before the iPhone can be activated.

    Exactly.

I do the same, been doing so for years going back to Symbian.

I intend to do the same when I upgrade in a few weeks.

I won't be able to swap SIM's around because they're different sizes and I'm not going to use an adapter.
