Hey guys. I just bought a new pair of sony earphones to rival the great sound that I get with the 7 year old one I have been using. However, I am very disappointed - it sounds very flat and lackluster. Why is this the case? It even sounds worse than the one I got with the phone.
Real audiophile headphones require a "burn in" period. This is where you plug them in and let them run for sometimes up to 80 hours. I know I bought a high end pair of Klipsch headphones that came with burn in instructions and sounded really lifeless at first. Until I let them run non stop for about 3 days at 3/4 volume plugged into an ipod of the gf's. The instructions suggested an 80-120 hour burn in. Now they have really deep bass and crisp highs. Hope this helps.
