Yes your data plan would still work how it does on ur 8520. No matter what blackberry you put it in it will have your data plan on it because its stored in the SIM card

I don't know much about the 8520 except it has the new trackpad and double the
app memory of the Bold 9000 (256mb vs 128mb). The Bold 9000 has the better display.

Were it me I'd go with the newer device - 8520

Bold 9000 - Curve 8520 side by side comparison

A pin is a specific contact number for each blackberry no two blackberry's have the same pin. thats how blackberry messenger identifies you. and how some apps indentify you, you might have to change your registration on paid apps, tether for example.

your PIN is device specific, your new Berry will have its own PIN and when you insert your BB data enabled SIM card into it, it will automatically register your new PIN on the BIS. You may have to log into your BIS account and insert your new PIN to get your emails sent to that new device

yes you would still be able to use BBM but i think you might need to notify your contacts of your new pin... i thinks it's comparable to changing your screen name... correct me if i'm wrong anyone ?

All you do is put the sim in the new phone. Log into BIS and it will say a new phone is detected do you want to do a device swap. You say yes and now your new PIN and IMEI are on your account. Very simple and easy to do.
