Is there a way to monitor what is going in and out over my BB's network?

The In/Out arrows go crazy sometimes when I am doing nothing and have no applications open. I would like to see what is using resources as I do on my Win PC's.

You can try hitting alt-esc (rt of the trackball) to see what is running on the phone
The 5 you should see are bbm, phone (call log), messages, home screen and browser. Anything else you see you can select - menu - close
