I have a BlackBerry Mini speaker, and it is slid on to my toolbelt shoulder strap . Using my "sip" saw to cut through a few 3 1/2 galvanized spikes, i showered my speaker face with metal shavings.
Guess what happens next..... yup, magnets in the speakers pull shavings in through the grille holes, and yes, you guessed right, it rattles and sounds like heck.
How can I disassemble the chassis to remove the foreign, magnet parasites .
Haven't had any luck finding related information.
    Suggestions ?
    Specific tools perhaps?
    I'll take anything.
    Thanks.

Just looked at mine. No visible fasteners for the casing. You will have to try and pry it apart at the risk of cracking it.

Would a stronger magnet pull out the parasites?

No, because it could get close enough to pull them off of the current magnet. Magnetic attraction diminishes at the SQUARE of the distance from the magnet.

Can't see inside the grille to find the offending shard anyway.

    Thanks for the input everyone.
Still need to get a phone repair kit with all the little pry bars so I Don't mess up the case.

If you can slide a(n old!) credit card in between just about any "screwless" casing and slide it along, you're winning, most of the time.

A flathead screwdriver might help to create a gap, then slide the card in, but use a wide one (work wide!), it might leave some marks...

    Hope that helps! :-D

Use a hoover/vacuum cleaner to such them out.

    Tried that.
The shavings are curled and difficult to maintain access, suction and a small pick, all the while overpowering the strength of the magnet.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. If the steel chips were shaped different, they would practically fly right out of there with a strong vacuum.

When I broke the play/stop button on my mini speaker I took it apart to investigate. I think I used a triangular spudger to start prying it apart at the on/off switch. There are a few spots where you need to use a tiny flat screw driver to get the plastic clips that go over the tabs to release the cover. There are 5 screws under the rubber surrounding the speakers. It was easy to get apart and snap back together. Alas, the micro switch was beyond repair but I was able to take it apart and put it back together. It still works other than the play/stop switch.
