It really sucks BBM Consumer is going away.. I'm using BBMe but I don't like it as much, don't think I'll use it very much longer and I think it will push me away from BlackBerry all together. I'm tired of having things I enjoy pulled away from me.. Starting with BlackBerry 10, to BBM and now many BlackBerry apps are losing updates soon.. Screw this.
Life is full of disappointments...
Only when you're a blackberry fan.. [emoji23].
These things are being taken away because not enough people adopt them...
...but hey, at least we still have the PKB lol
Lol, I agree there.. Love my KEY2
On serious note, BBMe does have many of the reasons that people liked about BBM in the past. Unfortunately, many people including myself, are questioning the economic viability of a consumer version and don't want to have it shut down and move contacts again.
Many here are recommending Signal and Telegram for alternative choices.
Others say BBMe is the best and wonder why some members here daily bring out that it is no good for BB's business.
I use Telegram, but BBM is my favorite.. I don't want it to shut down, maybe a miracle will happen.
The best idea rarely wins especially when it's not universally accepted by others as the best. Many users of messaging apps believe that Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp to be the best messengers because of the size of the userbase alone. There are billion+ users that accept the business model of Facebook because their friends accept the business model too.
Ironically, shareholders of Facebook will demand the company deal with concerns as it affects or doesn't affect profits. As Facebook protects it's business, that leaves other messengers potential casualties unless those companies use economic resources to protect their business. The current regulatory climate may render BBMe an unnecessary participant or casualty. Since it didn't make sense for BB three years ago, it doesn't really make sense now. Just as Google modifies Android, it's probable that Facebook modifies it's messenger platforms.
Did somebody watch a Disney movie last night? It's OK as I enjoy watching them with the kids too.

If million of consumers will pay $40+ a year for it, then it's great for business, but if they want it for free like WhatsApp and Signal it's a non-starter.
