media fast-forwarding question

Ok, so I searched the forums high and low and found a ton of information on how to fast forward a video by selecting the scroll bar and rolling the trackball, but what I didn't find out is if everyone is having the same issue as me.

When I select the scroll bar and roll my trackball to the right to fast forward, it goes in 4 minute, 40 second intervals only. I can't just fast forward through a small section, like the opening song/credits.

Is this how everyone's BB works or am I having a special moment and doing something wrong?
