I have a media card that I have ring tones downloaded on. The past two days my phone does not recognize the card until I do a battery pull. Does anyone have any idea why this is and how I can prevent it? Yes, media is turned on.

Make a folder on your pc. Copy your files to it then format the card and move them back. This should help.
