They wont focus on a 4G BB till QNX and till they can make the battery last longer than 2 hours. Once the new BB's drop this fall and with QNX coming next year, BB will be fine.
The trouble with that is every one else is coming out with 4G now & the carriers are turning on 4G pretty fast now. BlackBerry will still be a year behind every one else.

Apple doesn't seem to be in a big hurry either.

Just cause you call something 4G doesn't mean it really is 4G. Just marketing ploys from the TelComms. LTE is just barely being released and only in limited markets.
You've drank the kool-aid haven't you? As others have posted, 4G if you really want to call it that, is in its early infancy, differs by carrier (non-LTE) and in limited markets.
Even if you had the hardware now a limited subset of the public would be able to take advantage of it.
Given time, Apple and RIM will employ LTE devices when ALL carriers have it available in a significant amount of markets.
Verizon's LTE network is probably the closed to 4G out of all (WiMaxx and HSPA+) That being said the LTE radios are all first Gen and they are bulky and inefficient. Rumor has it that 2nd Gen modems are in the labs now and they will be much better. You can expect RIM and Apple to go LTE when 2nd Gen Radios are available and when ATT start to roll out LTE, which happens this summer BTW.
So 2012 at least before you see an LTE BB. (playbook not withstanding since they can put a Huge battery in a 10" or 7" tablet form factor to negate inefficiency.)
