I have started an exercise regiment and I have been walking on a trail system that we have but there isn't any mile markers. Is there any app to track how far I walk via GPS? I have a Verizon 9630 with 4.7.1.40. I would be willing to pay for an app like this. That way I could walk anywhere and get a good idea of how far I am going.

Haven't found an app for that, so far, but pedometers these days are quite inexpensive, and pretty small to boot.

gpsed, when the wife and I go for walks, just turn it on, then when done it gives you all kinds of info you can save etc..
just do a search for gpsed

gpslogger also can track your route, speed, distance, elevation. It has its own extensive thread.
I used GPSed also then a buddy told me about EveryTrail, a program he used for his phone. They both do the same thing but I found that EveryTrail had a much more user friendly UI and nicer website and options. I tried them both out a couple of times and ended up deleting GPSed. Might want to give that one a try too.
I use Gps logger. It tracks me on my bike rides and exports the tracks to kml so you can import into Google Earth
