...with repairs, battery replacements. Just curious to know how long someone has successfully kept a handset going seeing as how Chen may kill off BB10.

After 15+ phones (i'm only 20) I kept my q10 for the longest time, almost 1.5 years. Rocking a passport now but I'm sure I'll fetch the slider as soon as it gets released. However I won't ditch the passport for it for sure, I'll have the slider as my second phone

I used my 9300 for about 4 years and it was still like new when I decided to get a Z30. I didn't even have an accu replacement and the accu was still good for three or four days. The keys were also still good,

My dad is still using his Nokia N70 Music Edition which was bought in 2006. It's kinda surprising that he's still using the original battery that came with the device.

I used my beloved 8310 for 2 years and then gave it to my parents. Surprisingly, they still use it from time to time. That lovely thing is about 8 years old.

My Q10 is over 2 years old now.

Makes me laugh at the people who hyperventilate about their sexy devices, and then proceed to change them before 6 months are up.

Though I was an avid reader of CrackBerry, before I picked up my first BlackBerry, I had a Samsung flip phone.

Went into the Sprint store I dealt with at the time to ask about my upgrade. "Sure, we can take a look at that for you." When the guy pulled it up on the screen, he looked as if he had seen a ghost. I'm thinking, "What could possibly be wrong with my account for him to look at it like that?" He called all his staff over. They looked at each other and laughed. "You're well overdue for an update, sir."

I had that phone for something like 6 or 7 years. It still works. Had my Bold 9650 for at least 5 years. It still works, too.

I had a Nokia N8 for 3 years before it needed a new battery, but I could not get a new battery due to it being sealed in.

This is why I make sure the phones I get have removable batteries because batteries are usually the first to die when kept long enough.

I have a Q10 now which is approaching 2 years. I should be eligible for an upgrade soon from my carrier, but I do not have anything new I want so far.

I plan on keeping the Q10 for longer, and switch to prepaid plans to save some money.

My 9780 Bold is still working. I change the themes and wallpapers on it, and use it on wi-fi. Its my alarm clock and usb drive.

I bought it used from a CB friend in 2012, so she must have had it about 2 years before I got hold of it.

N95, used for 3 years. Had to replace the battery once, otherwise it was a pretty solid phone. Dropped it one fine rainy day on the ground, and it's screen died a few days later. All my other phones only last a max of 2 yrs. Most of times I get bored of them.

Thanks when I got my first BlackBerry - Bold 9700.

I used a BlackBerry Bold 9780 as my daily driver from August 2011 til November 2014 (3 years and 3 months) when I changed to Q10. Though it's retired from service, it still running perfectly.

Edit: I replaced the display twice during that period.

If the battery lasts several days, he won't have gone through that many recharge cycles.... :-)

Originally it was like 400 cycles for Lithium-Ion, but I'm sure that has improved.

Donate or dispose responsibly, hey. Let's say, put it in your collection drawers. :-)

Amazingly, all my five BlackBerry phones have found a job. Daily driver, backup phone, hotspot&gaming, secondary office phone on prepaid, and one for church work....
