HTC Sense UI 4.0 on-top of QNX combined with Dr. Dre Beats would be epic. I'd have a Blackberry fueled orgasm if HTC was allowed to develop a 4.5 inch slider or even a full touchscreen phone with swype.
I think RIM would be happy to licence BB 10 to HTC. The only issue is why would hardware makers take a chance on RIM when they have a wildly popular and far more developed platform like Android. Oh yeah and it's free!
The only way this could happen is if Google screws up big time or if Samsung and HTC feel sleighted by Motorola getting all the cool new stuff first.
If RIM wants to seriously start licensing out BB10 I think they need to focus on up-and-coming manufacturers like huwaei who are huge in Asia but just starting to break out in North America.
I love my HTC phone, but I just can't see them making phones for BB. If and is a huge if, then the battery wouldn't be BB like and that is huge with the Rim faithful.
The problem with RIM has never being hardware related. The lack of consumer interest over the past year or so is because of its java-based OS, lack of apps, and BAD marketing on RIM's part - it just can't compete with Android or iOS for the average consumer.
Just look at Windows Phones by HTC and Samsung - the masses haven't embraced Microsoft's Metro UI, like they have Android, and for some reason many believe Nokia is going to be a game changer for Windows Phone.
Samsung and HTC making a 4"+ QNX BlackBerry phone won't make a difference if the average consumer (and also, network carriers) don't embrace and welcome a 3rd or 4th major OS into the mix. RIM has to market the h*ll out of the new OS, have all the major new and upcoming apps, entice new and former users, while NOT alienating your current BlackBerry base.
It's going to be an interesting 2012 for RIM, for sure.
