I believe it's a soft reset, akin to manually turning it off and on again.

+1 on the soft reset. I've been told if you do it twice in quick succession (L Alt + R Caps + Delete) X 2, then that's your hard reset.

All of you posting that it does a Hard reset have Bolds, haven't you noticed?, None of us with other BBs seems to like this, just lock the phone.

I have an 8900. Try pressing them one after another holding them down. I didn't press them all at once.

Works perfectly on my 8310 and pretty much any BB with a qwerty k/board.

This is not the same as a battery pull, it is equivilent to turning your phone off and back on again. Just wanted to put that out there. HOWEVER it is a good habit to do these types of resets as well. I tend to do a soft reset every other night and a hard reset (battery pull) every other week or so.
