    The device is trying to reach a nonexistent connection. There are apps for WiFi management or QuickLaunch and others allow disabling WiFi to save battery.

    Two conflicting posts. The OP said "when WIFI is off" and the second poster understood "when WIFI is on".

    Which is it? Battery shouldn't be wearing down faster when WIFI is off unless you're in a bad cell coverage area and it's trying hard to get a signal. Also, if the battery is wearing down when your WIFI is on (not what you indicated in the OP), then it could very well be your settings you have on the WIFI options. Put them back to default in terms of network searching and such and you shouldn't see much of a battery drain.
