I love topics like this, starts off a bit light hearted then all the apple fanboys get offended and only the ones with perfect results comment.
well that is unless they have a bad comment about bb to chuck into the mix....

Lolz man. IP fanboys, my message to you....
This is CB, home to BLACKBERRY fanboys. Not you ****heads iP people. Go to TiPB to brag about iPhone. Also for the defenders of "iphone updates fine" how come my newly bought iPhone 4 bricked when updating it to iOS 5? Must be a reason right? Never had problem with BB.........

If you read the thread, it's not just Apple customers replying. The 9900 and 9330 have many threads about the device wiping itself and an error or white screen. Technically not a perma brick, but a real hassle.

I do want a 9930 but not until an OS upgrade that fixes the spontaneous brickin/errors.

That's just a sample. There's 4 pages of that. It's not all user error; while most errors are fixable, data is lost and time has to be taken to fix these errors. I'd say as bad, or worse, than the iPhone upgrade event.

I'm so happy this was released! I hope someday it can back up apps and settings too. But, a great start!

It's amazing how fast it backs the info up, under 10 seconds and all backups are individual, it doesn't update the last backup, it creates a new one and you can restore them individually.

Okay so those of you who HAVE bricked their BlackBerry and are using it as a quip back to the OP (I didn't want to read 2 pages of crap on this topic): I have been updating the OS on BlackBerry's for a couple of years now (I've easily done this about a hundred times on a range of different BlackBerry's) and have not yet, never once, bricked one of them. Albeit, I haven't ever done an "official" update if that's what you're referring to more specifically.

The white screen and errors mostly mentioned were spontaneous, and not while updating anything. The posters mentioned that.

I bricked my phone quite a few times on updates. Even on the smaller ones... i.e. not just 5.0 to 6.0.

I have four blackberries on my account none of them has ever given me a problem BUT... At one time I had 5 blackberries on my account. My youngest sons first smartphone was a Blackberry 9330 he loved it until three days after he got it and he found it spontaneously rebooting itself and wiping itself. Thinking it was simply a Glitch I restored it from a backup. next day same thing then it went into a cycle of simply rebooting and wiping itself.

I replaced the phone but he simple didn't trust it anymore so we traded it in for the then New Optimus S. He has had that phone for over a year now with no problems whatsoever.
