Why?
From what I have read here, a lot of people were having issues with syncing to outlook and various other problems, so RIM probably pulled it to prevent others from downloading it and hopefully get it fixed.
When I initially saw the update on DM, I selected it to update through DM, but kept getting an error in regards to me being on a 64-bit system which has never been a problem before, so I just put off upgrading and after a day, RIM pulled the upgrade, so I am just going to take the wait and see approach from now on with their updates and check other people's feedback before upgrading.
It was a nightmare trying to update my os to version .576. I kept getting a message saying there was an update then I would a message after updating that a component was missing. I had to uninstall DM and install an earlier version.
Personally, I'm thrilled they did that. I downloaded DM7 and lost the ability to sync contacts, etc.. up as a result. I had to revert back to DM 6 -- luckily I happened to have one on-disk (otherwise, I would have had issues).
That said, my BB is a secondary device for me, so, not as critical to me as those who rely on it for PIM, etc..
If RIM was forging forward with 7.0.B44 as the official DM release (without first fixing it), that would have been a worse situation.
Did they now?
I'm using a beta which I found somewhere and it works perfectly and I didn't have any of these issues. Very odd.
