Trivia: it's the first major hit that was created with the breakthrough Linn LM-1 drum machine that had (by today's standards very low-resolution and bitrate) samples of real drums.



There are twelve 8-bit, 28kHz samples including: snare, kick, three toms, hi-hats, tambourine, congas, claps, cowbell, and rimshot, but no ride or crash.

While the LM-1 was widely used, there are some huge hit songs from Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks, Depeche Mode, and most famously of all, Prince, who used it on virtually everything he did in the 1980s and into the 90s.
