Just got the new z30 and tried to switch from my z10. Link complains it can't because the OS of my z10 is newer than the z30. Both devices are on the latest release and no leaks were installed.

Trolls should be forced to use BB10!

Hmm, both devices are on the latest release? I know my carrier is holding back Z30 updates for some reason, so are they on the same OS?

The Z30 has been released with an older version of the OS that what carriers have uploaded to the Z10. That is what happened here in Canada.

Yeah, or try and update the OS through Sachesi/an autoloader.

You need to run OS autoloader on your Z30 to update software to match Z10 before you transfer data to new device. The latest OS update for the Z10 is higher version than the OS of Z30 out of box.

Download OS update here: http://m.crackberry.com/leaked-os-10...-blackberry-10 - simple to install. Follow instructions. Need to update radio as well for Z30. Install radio update after OS update.

After updating Z30 OS open blackberry link select the transfer to new device, start with Z10. (make sure you have most to date version of blackberry link as well before transfer). Takes a couple of hours to complete. Transferring to new device takes most time. If you run into problem you can restore your device. Always perform back before changing

I would strongly advise getting the 10.2.1.1055 autoloader. As much as it's a leak, it's been very stable and has some nifty new enhancements.

    This was moi.

Yesterday came home with my shiny new Telus Z30. Didn't have time to mess with autoloaders or anything right away, so tried to do a simple device switch.
Despite being a (self-proclaimed) OS upgrade guru on legacy BBOS, I've actually just stuck with the official Telus OS so far on my Z10. I was planning on trying out the 10.2.1.1055 leak, but I wasn't ready to educate myself just yet...

Unfortunately as alluded to above, the official OS for the Z30 in Canada is 10.2.0.1443, while the Z10 and Q devices now sit at 10.2.0.1791.
Link didn't care for the idea of restoring data to a device with a lower OS than the original device.

In the end, I downloaded the 10.2.1.1055 leaked OS, did precautionary Z10 backup with Link, wiped Z30, loaded 10.2.1.1055 to it, used Link for device switch from Z10 to Z30. All went really well.

I followed the guide in the blogs, plus the one in the BerryLeaks wiki site.

I'm sorry, but I find this very amusing. Canadian carriers are now holding back on releases?????

There is a much easier method to transferring.

I had the same issue when trying to restore my z30 from the z10 backup.

All you need to use is a zip program. I used 7zip.

Locate the backup file that you want to restore. It should have the extension bbb. Make a copy of it and keep the copy somewhere else for safekeeping if something goes wrong.

Change the extension of the backup file from bbb to zip. If you're using windows and can't see the extensions, change the folder options so you can see the extensions.

After changing the extension of the backup file to .zip, you should be able to use the unzip program to open it. Once opened, you should see two files. One of them should have the edit option when right clicked. This will open notepad. Find the text line that says "Z10 OS = 10.2.xxx" and replace the os version written with the one your z30 is on. Quit and save the file. Rename the .zip file back to .bbb and voila, it should work flawlessly.

Let me know if you have any questions or need help
