Java(out of memory error)

What would cause a Java (out of memory error ) to pop up when you have 35,849,728 bytes of free files showing on your Blackberry and nothing running but the normal 5 things(call log,browser,home screen,bbm, messages) and also the hour glass to spin?
This just started happening yesterday and again overnight ,I have done reset and battey pull it does not happen all the time but often enough that makes one wonder . Also I have gotten messages(emails from RIM) from BB saying updates to do though the DM a couple times and when I connect it shows like there is none to do ? :confused:

No app has been installed since Thanksgiving ......and no app updated since Christmas actually either, the last time I had a problem was when RIM went down because of the BBM thing

As an aid to comprehension, this section provides a brief overview of the life-cycle of a device upgrade. * Each OTASL capable device will contain one or more OTASL Service Records(SR) each identifying a Device Manager (DM). The DM may be located at RIM, may be part of a BES or, in future, could be associated with a 3rd party application provider. Each SR will identify the applications which are of interest to the corresponding DM. SRs may be delivered by PRV, BES or in an upgrade application loaded OTA. * The device will keep each DM informed of its configuration including hardware ID, vendor ID, the current software version (O/S, platform and core applications) and the current screen language setting. * Any of several authorized device administrators can request upgrade of a device. Administrators would include the BES administrator, RIM administrators, carrier administrators and possibly the end-user. Each administrator will have access to the device configuration. The BES and RIM administrators will have direct access to a DM while the carrier will have proxy access through RIM to its DM to obtain the configuration information. The end-user can simply access the information directly. * Given the configuration, the administrator can contact the Control Web Server (CWS) for a list of possible upgrades in the form of an XML document (upgrades.xml). * Based on corporate policies and goals, the administration module can then edit/filter the XML document and forward the result on to the device. The editing may include the removal of undesired upgrade paths or the addition of corporate policies on upgrade data routing (e.g. roaming) or user interaction (don't prompt). * On receipt of upgrades.xml, the device will execute the instructions in it possibly including querying the user for upgrade paths and options or just immediately initiating the upgrade..

I am on BIS not BES btw :/
and the picture showing the error as well , but shows plenty of free file space

I don't have any idea but would look forward to our fellow experts to shed light on it. This would definitely add to my knowledge gathered from CB.

a java lang error usually means you need to reload the os on the device however I have not seen a memory error before but I would assume its the same

Ok so should I wipe and reload the OS even if that error has not occured any more since it happened this AM . I have even more free space now then I did then . It just seems I would not be able to use the phone after getting that error . As far as I can tell the phone is functioning fine now, as you can see I am posting from the mobile web and its the same phone and the error has not repeated so far anyway .

I am getting this constantly now on my 8330...at least once a day.
I have 24mb free space when this message appears...ugh!

My update on this :

I had to wipe phone with BBSAK, or JLcmder , and then reinstall OS to get rid of that error just reinstalling OS or recovering a backup did not correct that error for me .

I think when I removed a program it took something with it it shouldnt have because I was not getting the normal reboot option anymore(the pop up box that shows if you wish to reboot phone after the app was removed) when ever I uninstalled a program either , along with that error .

Its all good now tho , fixed :)
