I have a Cisco Linksys e4200 v2 as my main router and an older linksys router as a wifi extender. I am wondering how to set it up properly so when my main router signal is low, the extender takes over without me having to manually switch. I have read a few different articles but they seem to be not up to date.

I see the option in my Z10 wifi settings and have it enabled on both routers but I am just not sure on what else needs to be done. Do I have to do anything with my router setup?

    Thanks in advance

I moved this to General BB Discussion since it can apply to any BlackBerry.

I have a similar set up. You need to set the second router up as an extension of the primary router. Even if you set the same ssid and password, your device will see it as a second access point and may not move to it if it still sees the original.

A slow climb to the top is always more rewarding. Sent using my BlackBerry Z10.

It's important that the "extender" router actually has an extender/repeater function, or at least an "access point" function, and many do not. It's this function that allows the handoffs you are looking for. Many routers can be flashed with an open-source router software called DD-WRT that gives you far more control over the router.
