Does anyone know where to get insurance for the blackberry
I know State Farm as a "Personal Articles" policy. I contacted them the other day via email about it below is a cut and past from their email to me about it.
Steve,
Yes we are aware of the Personal articles policy with cell phones. In New Jersey the annual premium is $50. The only exception is the phone can't be used for business.
Mzbutterfly who is your carrier? For instance, I pay $5.99 a month with T-mobile so I would advise to check with your carrier.
Thanks for the reminder:) I need to check with my carrier too!

I hate that Tmobile only let's you insure your device in the first 14 days. I think it's silly to set limitations on when a customer can add insurance for a device they paid for...
At&t does not offer insurance for all blackberry devices as mentioned on their website. I don't think At&t insures any of their smartphones.
No at&t does not insure any of there smart phones, only thing close is the Black Jack. They do insure that, but only crazy people like my daughter wants that over the BB. lol,
I am on my third 8830 and while I love this phone I would never buy one without insurance. Too much can go wrong, as I have learned. VZW's is only $5 a month and it's already saved me twice!

same here! I have insurance on my 8703. I dropped the first one while moving (right on the concrete, broken screen) and insurance sent me a new one
I wish there was a special insurance for blackberry's, if it breaks, you can exchange it for a new one (plus the 50 fee they charge) as long as you turn in your broken phone back to at&t. If you lose it, you can buy yourself another one. I think thats fair, because there are people who do fraud.
Found this on the at&t forums:
"shareware.com -
Reportedly, it fares out to be the same price as any other insurance a carrier would offer, about $5.00 a month and also cover laptops, ipods, all pda's. Good luck, didn't work for me:(
Wireless Safeguard Insurance for BlackBerry, Palm Treo, and other AT&T Cingular Devices -
This website that offers third party insurance that insures most of ATT/Cingular's smart phones and blackberrys."
has anyone else tried wireless safeguard. Sounds to good to be true.
I'm also doing some calling to check out the validity of the company. So, if you find out anything, let us know:).
