Okay so like my previous concepts, this one is more generic...I didn't bother adding anything to my active frames concept (which can be seen here - http://forums.crackberry.com/general...oncept-916695/ )

This one is much more basic and shows off the idea I had in regards to how instant reply should function in a future update!

    Instant Reply 10.3 Updates!! - Concept-instant-reply-1.jpg

This first one is simply showing the current appearance of the instant reply, minus the "X" - "Close" button because the update disappears after a couple seconds anyways and it doesn't make sense to show the X...BlackBerry is about productivity, they can either wait till it close, or reply!

    Instant Reply 10.3 Updates!! - Concept-instant-reply-2.jpg

This second one is showing that the user can interact with the notification by dragging down on the "instant reply box" and that is indicated with a cool arrow to indicate the user can drag it down to access more information.

    Instant Reply 10.3 Updates!! - Concept-instant-reply-3.jpg

The third picture shows how the screen will work when pulled down to halfway...it will show the ENTIRE message that was sent that moment, with the option to click in the text box to reply. This screen only shows the very last message you received only, and allows to reply...after sending the message the screen will move up and disappear off the top of the screen. Alternatively, if you choose not to reply right then, all you simply do is flick the screen up and it will fly off the screen. As seen below, the screen moves up with your finger (unless you do a fast flick motion...fast flick will throw it off instantly...dragging will move with your finger) IT IS TO BE NOTED THAT THIS SCREEN IS PULLED DOWN ON TOP OF WHATEVER SCREEN YOU WERE ON BEFORE! IN THIS CASE ACTIVE FRAMES SCREEN, BUT IT COULD ALSO BE A YOUTUBE VIDEO, PICTURES SLIDESHOW, MUSIC APP, CALENDAR, ANYTHING!!!

    Instant Reply 10.3 Updates!! - Concept-instant-reply-4.jpg

This final screen shows the "Full Screen Instant Reply" function. This one allows the user to view much more than the typical instant reply or half screen. It will show you your entire conversation with that person. It will allow you to scroll through the entire history between the two of you. This provides more detail if required (back story is important in many cases). Again all this is done while being on top of whatever it was you were doing before, the arrow at the bottom of the screen shows the user that you can swipe up to get rid of this screen if you don't want to reply.
    Instant Reply 10.3 Updates!! - Concept-instant-reply-5.jpg

With all this being said and shown here, please understand I did not spend much time on the detail of the conversation boxes as that is not the concern here...it can use the current BB10 conversation box stylings, and whatever it will look like in the future...that will be consistent among messaging. The key features here is the ability to turn an instant reply where you can only see a limited amount, into either the full message, or the entire conversation all with a simple drag down on the instant reply box!

This is one of those features that would only be known by 10% of the user-base. The remaining 90% would either clumsily pull it all the way down and never know about the halfway-down 'trick', or would just believe that there is now way to see the full conversation because they never pull past half-way.

I like it though, allows for much more context than the current instant-reply.

Yes that is really true! Most people would probably just go all the way down with it, but once people figure out that there is the halfway "trick" they may only decide to go halfway...but absolutely agree, it is probably something 10% would truly know what they are doing and the rest will just flip around lol...luckily those arrows are there to show the user they can interact with it!

But hey, even if only 10% truly know how to use it, well then they will really love the feature, and in time more will catch on!

wouldn't really be different from the OS now. It seems like I have to spoon feed things to new BB10 owners.
People who have had BB10 since launch still don't know the basic things that came since launch i noticed. Blackberry is doing a terrible job in showing how to use the OS.

No one does tutorials, unless they really need something. When the OS first boots up it shows you how to swipe to different app drawer pages and that's it. It should make it that it show's little hints for the first week with a toggle to be able to turn it off.

Reality is BB10 is one of the only learning curve OS' out their they need to cater to the non techy consumer on all fronts of the OS. They are basically throwing the non techy consumers under the bus.

When I teach features/gestures to people that are complaining about the device. They tell me that when they know the features they think it's the most productive OS around and if I wasn't there to tell/teach them they would of gave up on BB10.

Spoon feed your OS and features BB!!!

I'm sorry but isn't the whole point about this concept is to show the whole message?

    Cause it already does this

But it does? As I said please don't look to much into the context and the conversation boxes but the instant reply says how's it going? Then the full message goes on to ask whether the person wants to watch the Leafs game tomorrow? Then the full screen shows all the previous messages...so what exactly do u mean?

Also my instant replies never show that much information. Had the phone since day one. All the leaks and official os's and never has it shown that long of a message! So not sure how you got so lucky but mine doesn't do that

Yes I actually just tested that, and it is something I never noticed I suppose...I still think the gesture idea works nicer to view the full message...

The only way now to even view the full message is to hit reply...many people will not want to reply, they rather just read the message to know what has been said...so just drag the message down to view the entire thing, then with the option to reply...just a different way to approach this

Something that sort of bothers me about the current instant reply implementation is that it disappears after you hit the reply/send button.

Now I KNOW that this is BY DESIGN (hence, "instant reply"), however there are many times in which someone asks me a question which I quickly reply "Yes" or "Ok", but then I immediately realize I would like to further qualify with a "but first you need to [.....]". Since the reply box disappeared I then have to go into the hub, tap on the conversation and type the longer reply. Just seems that it could be a bit smarter.

Perhaps there could be a slight delay between the time you send the initial instant reply and the disappearance of the reply box, allowing you tap on it again (or on the Q10/5 start typing again) to keep it for an additional message).

Perhaps this is where this halfway pull down trick could be really useful. Especially if you know the "instant reply" will likely consist of two or three messages.

I don't see the difference, If you hit reply to view the message or swipe down to view it, does it make a difference?

To me it doesn't make sense to justify getting rid of the "x" because you can just wait for it to go away. When I'm watching a video, playing a game, reading something, and the instant reply pops up I don't want to wait for it to close, I dismiss it right away.

Also, when you click the X on the instant reply it registers as though you've seen the message so the LED stops blinking and the message just waits for you unread in the hub without you having to use the peak feature just to get the LED to stop blinking.

This is especially useful when watching videos, playing games, using the browser or just about anything else in landscape and don't want to leave your app just to stop the notification LED

Isn't the LED blinking the reason we all love BlackBerry?? I am confused...you DON'T want it blinking!? ...thats blasphemy!

Lol... the blinking LED is to let you know something came in without you having to constantly wake up/unlock the screen to check.

I'm pretty sure that if you pressed the x on the instant notification toast, you would have seen it and thus be aware that something came in... making it safe to turn off the LED.

In my opinion the LED should never STOP! Just keep flashing and messing with peoples eyes!! lol...

All honesty my other post was joking...obviously the LED should stop and that is a good feature that is very subtle but nice in BB10
