    Here's one that WP has:

    You CAN apply filters!!

I know that there is a native Instagram client coming to BB10 (it was a main page article, but its name eludes me right now), but at launch it won't support adding filters.

So a philosophical question, why has this taken BB10 so long. The demand was there right? Why wasnt the app created earlier?

While the demand was there for the everyday consumer, I can't say for certainty that it has existed for the majority of BB owners. This could be a reason that it's taken so long, the dev wanted to make sure his product would be worth his time.

It's because BlackBerry and their awful communication skills. We were all unsure if an official Instagram client was coming, so was the developer. Similar to the Whatsapp developer who got shafted, this guy probably did not want to develop only to have his hard work ruined because an official one came out.

    Two reasons:

    1. Uncertainty about an official Instagram client. An official app would mean a certain block for a reverse engineered one.

    2. Microsoft is not shopping itself around.

Man you are really looking past this. BlackBerry was literally begging Instagram to come over to BlackBerry 10. They offered to build the app and everything. Too bad the company is waiting for this platform to grow and see if bringing it over would be a good move. BlackBerry has great communication skills, unfortunately some companies have horrible listening skills. The Whatsapp situation was an unfortunate mishap, and yes i do feel bad for the developer. BlackBerry should have compensated him with like a limited edition device for his efforts.

BlackBerry, the company that literally goes silent for days regarding important events. Ie Bbm cross platform.

They need to be silent with the public. Every time they open their mouths to the public, people ridicule their actions and form angry mobs and start thousands of forum posts. But in regards to talking with app developers in bringing their app to the BB10 platform, port or native, they are not silent.

Windows Phone has 7 Instagram clients:

    1. 6tag (Official nod from Instagram team)
    2. Instance
    3. Instagraph
    4. Hipstamatic Oggl ( Official instagram partner)
    5. InPic
    6. Pictastic
    7. #2instawithmassivelove

Now, The reason for this is much higher developer interest in WP than BB10, not to forget the excellent Microsoft developer tools and the ease with which WP8 and Windows 8 apps can use shared code, combine this with the kind of apocalyptic dark clouds hanging over Blackberry and you get the answer for awful developer support behind BB10 when compared to Windows Phone.

Agree with you. Developer interest in BB10 is awful compared to Android/IOS/WP
though I love BB10's Instagram app igrann. But it is nothing compared to 6tag. 6tag is better than the official app and the developers (in terms of features). They even got Instagram's attention. That's alone is incredibly hard to get. But I think Instagram will eventually buy 6tag and rename it. Though I wonder why BB10 users would want the igrann developer to copy features from 6tag that Rudy Huyn made from hard work. very stupid and odd. I suggest to the BB10 igrann developer to think of his own things. It stands out from others. Copying others is not going to help app downloads.

all these apps were realeased in 2013. to be specific Windows phone 8 cannot run on wp7 phones. So the version date of Wp8 was that released in October 2012. after that that was when all the apps started to come into the WP store. So it does show that WP developer interest is much better than BB10's

Windows Phone 8 was released on 29th October, 2012. BB10 was released on 30th January, 2013. Not much time difference between the launch time of both these operating systems.

the biggest change was the NT kernel change. separating from the CE kernel from Wp7. So meaning Wp7 and Wp8 are completely different. Wp8 is more hardware changes while Wp8.1 and the GDR updates is going to be more software changes and some hardware changes.

I mean in terms of features not UI. But people are suggesting to take stuff from 6tag like UI change and boarder colour etc. it's pretty noticeable. All I'm suggesting it that the igrann developer should think of his own ideas to be different from other instagram apps. and copying is not going to do anything. They both may be on different platforms but they can ask companies to remove apps that copy other developers ideas. e.g look at 6tag a massively popular app on WP. the reason is because it has features that no other instagram app has.

Bb10 has editing already built in to the pictures app anyways

Instagram clients on WP vs BB10-img_00001048.png

This is within the os, just have to look a little to find the jems involved. Mix that with the story maker app built in and your pictures can be edited quite a bit.

Oh got that. I think the iGrann will have a more BB10 feel to it, like having a light/dark theme option, using the native editor, etc, based on the screen shots and the descriptions by the dev.

That is like considering BB7 and BB10 as same, the WP7 was CE kernel while WP8 is windows NT kernel same as desktop windows.
