There isn't a right or wrong answer to this question, but I'm interested in peoples' opinions.

I have a 9700 that is out of warranty and has a sticky keyboard issue. I've replaced the membrane a couple of times but the issue keeps on coming back. It's slowly getting worse... sooner or later the keyboard will, again, be unusable. But... my BlackBerry representative tells me that 2011 will be an exceptionally interesting year for BlackBerry so I don't want to buy a new device with a contract now, but I'd like to wait.

If my 9700's keyboard fails, I'm thinking I'll either buy a new 8520 or a used 9550 (I know somebody with a Storm 2 for sale). Neither is going to be the same as the 9700 for lots of reasons...

The 9550 is tempting as it'll help me support my customers with the handset, whereas the 8520 will drop right in where the 9700 lifts off.

    Any comments, guys and girls?

Why not another 9700? The 9550 will frustrate you being a previous 9700 owner and the 8520 although not a bad phone can't compare to the 9700 either.

Ah and I should have said that I have *two* 9700s; mine and a work one.

    Yeah, a used 9700 is another idea. I can pick up a 9550 for 100, a 8520 for 135 and a used 9700 for a little more.

I can use my wireless keyboard for heavy duty text entry for all the devices...

If another 9700 is out of the picture I would suggest the 8900. It is probably as close
as you are going to get to the 9700 without spending a lot.

Or a 9300, but I definitely think a used BB is the way to go, as good stuff IS coming. Or so we are hearing.

I'm not too bothered about missing OS6 either... So the 9300 versus 8520 issue is more about cost than it is with 3G, GPS or a quicker processor...
