My mom lost her Bold 9700 yesterday, we called the carrier and reported it, they asked for the IMEI number so they could lock the device. What kind of lock will they apply? Will the phone turn on? Or would it just be blocked to make phone calls?

She doesn't want people to read her e-mails and stuff.

    Thanks in advance guys.

The phone won't be usable to make calls and can't be used to set up a new account, but if your mom didn't have a password on her phone, EVERYTHING in it is available to anyone that finds it. That includes her address book as well as her emails. So if an unscrupulous person finds it, everybody in her address book is vulnerable.

I see, well thank you very much! She didn't have a password but it's too late now. Let's hope for the best!
