That title may be a LITTLE misleading. I, unfortunately fell for the bright lights of android last year, because my poor little curve 8530 did not handle 3 g well, and I kept on dropping calls. The techie side was fun for a while, but when I was forced to hook up my bb again,(long story) I found out just how much I missed the physical keyboard. I have to keep the Android phone for a few more years, as I signed up on a 3 year plan, but I want to pick up an older BB, running OS 6, until BB 10 is out...What would your suggestions be regarding a reasonably fast BB, running OS 6.. My first thoughts would be a 9800, or a 9780. Thanks in advance for your input.

I had two 9780s and was really happy with them. I had both the white and black one, and I'd advise you to get the black one, because the white one got dirty in the back. The 9780 has a really good keyboard and camera too. They're sturdy phones, and served me well until I got my 9900. I think you'll see that the 9780 is on a whole other level than your 8530. The 9780 feels like it was made better, and the screen is a lot better than the 8530's too.

    Good luck

If your budget allows, 9780 is definitely a good choice. Not too old too. The best phone to be running OS 6. If not, 9700 (which is what i'm using at the moment) is not too bad too if you don't mind the extra effort of shrinking the OS.

    9780, most definitely, totally bulletproof

The 9780, or the 9360 can both be had in the $200 range on Kijiji, either or would be a great purchase

the 9360's battery life isn't as good as the 9780, but the OS and web browser is much better.

For just a bit more you can get a new gen Curve 9350/60. To me that would be the direction to go in as it has OS 7 and its upgraded browser, an excellent keyboard and they are very durable.

But for running OS 6, nothing beats a 9780 Bold.

Thank you all! I appreciate the input, and will make a purchase soon. My question now is....should I "downgrade to a curve, but upgrade to os7?

If you're simply looking for the best, go with the 9900/9930. If not go with the Curve 9350/60/70.

Thanks, all of you...of course, I REALLY want a sparkling new BB 10, but that will have to wait until I can ditch the Android. I will let you all know what I buy, and give a "review" of how I like the new to me device compared to my curve 8530. Again, Thanks

Yep! Been using the 9780 for a year plus now and it is damn sturdy. Don't get anything too fancy since the new generation units are coming out soon (for all companies).

To be honest, I'd go for a OS7 device as they really are an improvement over the older BB's. The Curve 9360 is much better in specs than the old Bold!

If you're plan is to wait until the BB10 phones come out then go for the 9780. Probably the sturdiest Bold phone to date. My girlfriend has one and with an impact series otterbox case it really is a workhorse. She's a little clumsy and yet it still looks brand new.

The new OS7 phones are nice and pretty but there's something about them all that makes you obsessively want to make sure they never get bumped/scratched. I won't say they're fragile. It's more like, they make you suddenly care more for the overall aesthetics then you used to.

See if you can find one in good condition on Craigslist/Kijiji as they usually go for around $150.

I had a 9800 and it was an awsome phone, but I would also go with a OS7. I've got a 9860 and it is really fast powerful phone. Obviously a physical keyboard is better so a curve or a 9900 off eBay is the way to go.
