Good Vision? Need lots of apps? If not a Z10 is good, if you need bigger screen a Z30 is better.

Passport - it's got the best keyboard, and a really big screen (therefore you have lots of spare space so you can easily turn up the font size when you forget your reading glasses and still see the whole email.... I do!)

What sort of phone or smart phone do you have now? Z30 / Leap have nice big screens and are good value. If you want a keyboard then the Classic or Passport would be the way to go. I bought my father his 1st smart phone at age ...79. He's 80 now and i got him a classic as having the extra buttons is a little easier at first i think. He has "issues" sometimes swiping or touching the screen properly so the tool bar buttons are handy for him. But its all on depends on preference.

Passport Orignal & SE is good too, if you'd like wider reading screen with larger fonts...the HUB will be great on any BB10 phones to manage your emails and all notifications.

General and popular apps available (Facebook, Whatsup, Skype, etc.) all offer basic functions and generally work well! As for games, we'll there's tons to meet your requirements in all genres.

Blackberry World, Amazon Store & SNAP (sideload required and fairly easy), will provide more that enough access to APPS in either Ecosystems of BlackBerry 10 & Android.

And the keyboard is awesome and easy to use, the battery is long lasting 20hrs+++ with good daily usage!

Good luck and have fun discovering one of the best Mobile OSes on the market (I'm a little bias).

    Cheers!!

I'm 58 too and I have a Z30. I would not get a Z10 as the screen is way too small. If you are good with the size, a Passport would be a great option, its screen was tailor made for reading text, but I think the Z30 is the perfect size for me.

If you really like solitaire then get a Z30, you won't like it on a passport.
I love my passport, but solitaire was better on my Z30.

As a fellow old fart, I would recommend the Z30 or the Passport. Either will provide you with an exceptional experience and, for me, it really comes down to a preference for a physical keyboard or a virtual keyboard.

I don't know! You youngsters at 58. I'm 68 now and can assure you that the 30 is THE phone. Go for it.

    Definitely the Z30.

The Passport would be the right choiuce if you are very seriously interested in a physical keyboard.

I'd say go for the passport. The screen is big. The os is solid and easy to learn so it wouldn't be too hard for you.

The screen is too small. I'm young and I still found it annoying to use.

59 here. The Z30 is a monster smartphone. I use it mostly for business communications; email, SMS, Word and Excel files. Also heavy use in BBM for calling and video calling with daily members.

If I can't do it with my Z30, I can probably do without it. YMMV

My MIL is about 85 years old. We gave her the option of the Huawei Summitt, Samsung Galaxy 2 or the Z10. She tried them each for a week, and chose the Z10. We also bought her an Android tablet about 3 years ago and she loves it too. 58 is really young still.

The Passport works great for me. I really like a physical keyboard that lights up when I type and BlackBerry excels with those types of keyboards. Having said that, I know some folks around your age that like the Z30. Screens and battery are great on both devices but the screen size is different. So it depends what's most important to you. For me, it's the typing and reading experience not any games, including solitaire. I play that on my computer.

If you want a phone as in "physical call answer button" and an overall rounded package, check the Classic...

My mum is probably getting one. Same age bracket. And due to health she can only use one-handed... :-D

Leap should work fine though the 30 may be cheaper. I believe the Leap may have a brighter screen
