If you were Kazuo Hirai, the CEO of Sony, would you invest in a company who's bland phones have such a dismal app ecosystem and a CEO who clearly didn't understand the smartphone market? What would you possibly do that BB couldn't do to create a sustainable and desirable brand?

As a CEO of a company and my wife as COO, I would buy anything that generates long term cash flows and a strategic fit.

Sorry none of us can put ourselves into the shoes of Sony's CEO so I can't say if bbry would meet the above criteria.

By the way you asked your question, you want a specific answer, so it does not seem up to discussion.

Didn't want you to put yourself in the shoes of Kazuo Hirai, I wanted you to channel him like 'What would Jesus Do?'. Watch this

If I was Kaz Hirai I'd have resigned already over this:

Even better point. Blackberry must find a way to stay independent. Just my point. Another CEO such as Kazuo Hirai will want to go his own way. Not the BB way. Long live QNX !!!!

Not for their smartphone business... BBRY has shown that it's too hard to get traction with a brand new OS.

MDM & BES10.... not sure if Sony is ready to get into this area of the market yet. Think they are looking at the consumer market right now.

But if the price were right the patents that BBRY has are worth something, especially to a company wanting to get into the mobile market.

Sony is trying to make inroads in the U.S. market with its Xperia Android phones. The last thing it needs right now is to be saddled with phones running a new OS that has fallen flat on its face in that market.
