- avt123O.G.Hmm. Other platforms offering more features for the same price, needs changing and overall dissatisfaction with a brand can be another reason why people switch. Why should someone be loyal to a brand? I am loyal to myself and MY money, and if company Y is going to offer me more than company X for the same price, my money is better off over there. If company X come back and offers as much or more than company Y, then they will be considered again.01-04-11 09:07 AMLike 0
- Why are you assuming that I'm disagreeing with everything you said?
And buying it now is better than upgrading to something else and then having to buy it later, which will cost more than the premium fees you've paid up to that date.
The fact an the matter is simple. With RIM devices, you won't even have a choice. That's the issue here.
I've seen the 'dissatisfaction' post of the folks who've bought into the hype, who've only discovered that they bought a Porsche with an Escort engine. 1) It isn't 1960 (b&w TV) or 1977 (monophonic music system.)
2) 4G is a gimmick, or if you want, a buzzword. There is no such thing as 4G. The speeds being flaunted as 4G are an upgrade to the 3G network. 4G as it is thought of by the entire world who is buying into the marketing of the major carriers will not be ready for nationwide implementation until 2014-2015 at earliest. So if you're gonna say 4G or bust...you may as well get used to the phone you have for a few years.gots2beme likes this.01-04-11 09:27 AMLike 1 - 4G LTE BlackBerry Program Slowed; Not Releasing until end of 2011? BBLEAKS.COM BlackBerry leaks, news, videos, faqs, reviews

- There was no assumption involved. And you spend no premium upgrading to a phone you can't use fully now if you save it to when you can use it.

They can make higher profits that way. Trying to please a small minority of whining spoiled Americans is no way to make real money. That relatively small group changes their mind every couple of months anyway.

I don't know why everybody expects them to compete with android and apple on specs. Blackberry has never been about specs.Jake Storm likes this.01-04-11 11:17 AMLike 1 - The #1 thing for me is, if they want me to sign and commit to a 2-year contract, they device that comes with it better be in line with the most recent technology, since it will be obsolete long before my contract expires.
My current job pretty much dictates that I have a BB (only BES email is available for mobile access), so unless I want to start carrying 2 devices (which I absolutely do not), switching to Android or iPhone isn't even an option for me. I'd also like to stay with Verizon, but that's not as crucial.
I've been happy with BlackBerry up to now, even as a Storm owner...but I've been quite disappointed with the lack of new device development. I really like the touchscreen Storm series, and would possibly even consider a torch-like device if it came to Verizon, so I was hoping to hear of some LTE goodness early this year. I guess not...1812dave likes this.01-04-11 11:27 AMLike 1 - They haven't been THAT far behind, if behind at all. The Curve and Pearl already had a camera when the 1st iPhone came out. They were able to add Video with an OS update. You had to buy a new iPhone (or jailbreak) for it to do video. Plus the camera had a Flash, but they were only good for daylight shots, compared to the iPhone? They had media cards, too. Quit revising history to fit your argument...

My friend works in a pretty popular cellphone store and most the people who come in look past the HTC Desire etc and go for the 9700, 9550, 9800 etc. Why? Because they know nothing of Andriod OS, specs, nothing. BlackBerrys are whats in and BBM (i have to admit deservingly so) is all the rage. I know a guy who actually traded a N900 for a 8520 because he simply didn't know what he had. Well i guess the second reason in regards to the iPhone is cost. You would have to sell a kidney to buy a IP4 locally.01-04-11 11:40 AMLike 0 - Well, nice to have a 4G device right now. Now only for want of a network. LTE is just now rolling out. Of course the others are rolling out 4G phones now. But they have just as much 3G capability as A BlackBerry . However, will you get to use it in 4G? Stay tuned....

I expect refreshes (just adding more memory and maybe a better camera and OS 6 to every BB line) until the first LTE BB is out. Maybe they will introduce QNX on that smartphone.01-04-11 11:47 AMLike 0

With forward facing camera, 3g, 3.2mp camera with flash, browser, email etcetc this is way before iphones or android phones.

- Here is my point i make when ever one of these threads pop up. Phone choice is a personal one. There are those that love bb and may never leave and those like op here who are going to leave for the latest and greatest. Brand loyalty is a concept lost on a lot of the younger crowd. Just so they can stay with the latest and greates phones. Or what ever.
So in light of what op is saying, if you dont like bb, get the f*** out and give your spot in the forums for someone who wont clutter it up with the i hate bb stuff. Not everyone cares about your lifes decisions.01-04-11 11:51 AMLike 0 - I could care less about 4g as it isn't where I live and isn't going to be for some time. - I think the lack of 4G in the countryside areas makes this a non issue for alot of people. I remember when 3G came out it wasn't everywhere either, but now I can travel the remotest backroad using verizons network and have full 3G service. I wonder how many towers verizon has nationwide and to make them all 4G available is going to take time. I'm not ready to pay extra for sporadic 4G service when travelling. By the time RIM comes out with a 4G enabled device verizons network will be in a better position to utilize it more often. The BB web experience is grossly lacking imho anyway, so how would 4G where available help that issue? I don't blame anyone for wanting the latest/greatest speeds. Just get the device that works for you and call it a day. To b!tch at RIM and stress over how they operate is kind of ignorant. We have choices folks.
