As long as you have gps on through options/advanced options/gps services/location on, you can use any GPS app that works with the Storm. Google Maps has issues right now and I personally hope that Google straightens it out.

The GPS function is not disabled by vzw on this phone.

Its Garmin for me. But its $100, unless that $80 offer is still out there.

Edit: Sorry, that's not free. I don't like ANY free apps. they are all buggy except BBmaps, which doesn't do much for me.

What can you do with garmin that you can't do with a free app though?

I love the hardware garmin GPS's I used one for work all the time and it worked pretty brilliantly, definately better then the other one we had in the other truck (can't think of the name of it at the moment, I think it was like magellan or something)

You should try out the BB Garmin app. It runs pretty much like my Garmin GPS device and includes traffic, weather, google local search, etc.
