If I am changing Blackberry phone, do I need to call AT&T?

If let say I am changing from 9700 to 9800 (or one blackberry to another) using the same SIM card (which obviously mean the SIM card has the same number and already have the Blackberry data plan), do I have to call AT&T when I am changing phone?

Or can I use the new phone with Blackberry service active (email, BBM works) without calling AT&T other than setting up my own email using AT&T BIS server on the new phone?

There is no need to call AT&T. Just change your PIN on BIS.

Once you put the sim in the new phone, just go to the email settings on the
phone. It'll prompt you for your username and password. Once logged in, it
will prompt for the pin and device change.
