No one is manufacturing BlackBerry-branded phones at present.

Let me help kill that rumor for you... It’s economically impossible for BB to do. Not just improbable but totally impossible.

We’ve already got awesome thread debunking as wishful thinking and clickbait depending on if you think Chen has $1-2 billion squirreled away just for starters....

For the official record, BlackBerry doesn’t have the economic resources .......

I know thank goodness. All the BlackBerry employees are glad he’s gone as well. After he let the company die and then abandon it

BB spent most of its remaining cash buying Cylance, so it's already make-or-break that they get Cylance generating significant revenue. The very last thing BB is in position to do is re-enter the smartphone market after spending hundreds of millions to shut down their smartphone business in 2016.

Even if they had the money, any realistic sales forecasts would just generate more losses. BB's smartphone business (separate from service access fees) lost money every year after 2011, and they left the market in 2016, licensing (primarily) to TCL, who lost money for 2 more years before unofficially pulling the plug in early 2019.

They likely never will. Just a quiet non-renewal.

Two years from now, when the contracts expire and there's been no activity for almost 3 years, and so making an official announcement won't hurt anyone involved.

I wish they'd license the keyboard technology to Pine64 for $5 a phone (or something like that). Those guys don't need anything approaching normal volumes to turn out a product.

But how many units.... and thus how much revenue would it generate? Proable not worth it for BlackBerry if they aren't going to move by 2K or 3K, over the next couple of years.
