Ideas for better marketing campaigns
While I'm loving seeing the new RIM marketing campaigns (i.e. the new "Action" campaign in India, the former "Be Bold" campaign), the one thing that bothers me is that some adds only attempt to seem cool and youthful, yet don't take the extra step to showcase the cool features of the BlackBerry platform.
The lack of feature-specific marketing in fun, playful ways opens the door to criticisms like http://www.oldberry.com/
My question is, what would make for the best BlackBerry campaign?
I mean, where's the cool commercial showcasing all the cool ways you can use the NFC feature on your Bold 9900? Or what about the enhanced social networking and AR capabilities of connecting BBM and Wikitude (there was brief exposure in the glow-in-the dark bike ride commercial http://youtu.be/Zua5vamY9TU/). More importantly, why was Samsung able to profile this before RIM with the Samsung Olympic themed & uber cool NFC relay race (the ad started showing up on YouTube recently).
My wish list of features that would be cool to feature in future BlackBerry marketing campaigns include:
- using NFC to share contacts, make payments, exchange files (pictures, video, PDFs, presentations) add friends to BBM, trade cool apps.
- urban exploring using Wikitiude and other AR services.
- getting things done with Evernote, Wunderlist, caldenar reminders, conference calling, etc.
- PlayBook as work tool (getting your salesteam out of the office, hitting the pavement)
- PlayBook as a gaming platform
- Platform for the young entrepreneur: reviewing PDF in a cafe on the PlayBook, coordinating a meeting through BBM group, conference call in a co-working space.
- Anything that shows how BlackBerry users get things done!
