So I have a storm two, but I want another BB to use on those days I want something different. I am thinking either the 8530 or the 9630. I don't know which I should get. I know the 8530 is a little worse, but it has wifi and is opengl capable...

Only constructive input is wanted. Anything else will be reported.

Im in the same boat cause I want something to mess with like the 8330. The 8530 would be fun to mess with since its got wifi and lots more memory for the apps. Since I have a tour already the 8530 would be my choice.

8530 has the trackpad but the 9630 still uses the trackball;if you're comfortable with the trackball you can go for the 9630. Also the 9630 has a better resolution camera and the build quality and looks are better than the 8530.Why not wait for the Tour2? I think RIM will release it early next year.

I don't want to pay full retail. And if the tour two is opengl capable, ill get it. But I don't think it is...

I kinda like the trackball, and I have never used the trackpad. The tour is smaller, isn't it?

    Yeah I am on Verizon..

I have been thinking about it. I want WiFi. That is a must. So the 9630 is out... And I don't want to pay $600 for a new 9650 either.. So it will be the 8530 probably.. Unless I can find a 9650 for less than $300 lol

I've got a Bold 9000 and Storm 1. I swap between them regularly. I was going to get Storm 2 but since loading 5.0.0.425 I have shelved that idea.

if you don't need the second BB immediately why not wait for the Tour2? It would have all the goodies.

    Greetings,
    I apologize for resurrecting an old thread, but the search engine provided me with this marvelous thread, so here goes my question ;
I got my wife a blackberry Curve 8530, and although I am digging it, I wonder if I should go with the Tour or Bold models with the optical track pad. I have been researching the models, but RIM's site does not provide much helpful comparisons. (they all say they have the same features)
I know when I go to the store, the Curve 8530 models look very similar in size and shape to the bold (or is it the tour), except for the build materials such as chrome plated sides and what not.
All I really want in a blackberry is that it has Wi-Fi capability. And whether its on Sprint or Verizon does not matter. Oh, and I'm not into touch-screen phones, so the Storm 2 is not an option

What would be you recommendations or tips?

Okay upon checking Sprint and Verizon's website, I only see the Blackberry Bold 9650 and the Blackberry Curve 8530 (And the BlackBerry Storm2™ 9550 smartphone not an option unless someone says GRAND things about it). So is the Blackberry Tour still in production or is it discontinued ?

Get the Bold 9650. The best Blackberry for Sprint/Verizon that is out right now and will be running the newest (OS6) Operating System.

Tour does not have wi-fi capability. Looks like the 9650, which is BB's newest offering on those 2 carriers.

Thank you mcg3745 and soccernamlak for the advice.

The OS6 definitely seems promising and appealing

Do you really need two phones, two expensive data plans, two different numbers, etc...

Maybe you have the money, great, seems like a waste though. For something just to "toy around" with.

Don't get the Curve, Tour, or Storm.
    Get the bold.

unless you're fine with OS 5
