    Hey

Just wondering. Is there a particular order that the PIN for a BlackBerry is set? I'm asking this as I have had two BBs bought in the UK and both of the PINs started with 21. Pretty much all of my contacts are in the UK and have 20, 21, 22 as the start of their PIN. I have bought a new Storm which I believe is from a different country and has a PIN that starts with 31! A pretty useless question but I was just wondering..

    Thanks guys!

I always thought it was random. My PIN starts with 22 and I'm from the US.

Ha, I just checked this and it looks to be the case. Every contact I have with a GSM device, the PIN starts with a 2, and every one with a CDMA device starts with a 3. To throw in another loop, I've got 2 contacts with Nextel 8350i Curves that run on the iDEN network, and their PIN's start with a 4.

Heres the deal, they take cards with letters and number on them and toos them in the air. Whatever lands facing up they take the first 8 that they see.

-not realll just being a smartass, good question though!!

I recall reading a thread here that stated that was the case. All of my devices have had PINs that being with 3. The last three are:

    9550 311603##
    9630 314B82#X
    9650 322714#X

they are also hexadecimal and can be converted to a normal decimal format. so they could and most likely are assigned that way, in decimal and numerical order, then converted to hex.

    for example....

    PIN: 204AAB23 = 541,764,387
    PIN: 204AAB24 = 541,764,388

there are millions of combinations allowing for many PIN's.

Wouldn't you be GSM too though? Since you have a 9700 on Rogers.

Mine stars with 21 and I'm GSM.
