Just wondering because my Droid is my first actual phone I've put in my name and am paying for myself.

I know new smartphones are releasing every few months and a lot of people shell out lots of money to have the latest and greatest.

Just wondering how often people upgrade. I plan to upgrade once every year. I've had my Droid for a few months and love it but might upgrade when my annual upgrade comes if there's anything out that blows it away and/or I become completely tired of it.

I recently started upgrading more since November '08.
I don't think I have ever completed a FULL two year contract.

I've completed full two year contracts when I was on my parent's plan using a flip phone. But now that so many awesome phones release often I'll probably be upgrading every year.

I purchased my VZW BB Tour back in October 2010, so my next upgrade is June 2011 and I can't wait!! It will exciting to see the choices of BB's that VZW will offer.

I'm trying to keep my Tour for the duration of my contract. I haven't always done that. Last year, I went through 7 or 8 devices and I am on my fourth this year. Every time I move away from BB it has been a mistake. Hopefully I have learned from my mistakes and will stick with this BB for another year.

every few months i either buy a phone on ebay or at full price at the verizon store. i just completed my first 2 year contract with verzion and have been with them since 04...lol

It all depends on whats out and what good deals I come across.

But normally, I upgrade every 6-12 months.

I usually upgrade when I get toward the end of my contract so that I can get the New Every 2 discount. I would love to always have the "latest greatest" in cell technology, but I have too many other costly habits like cars, and life in general. I just can't see forking out full retail price for a phone. As long as the phone is still working as it should, I try to stick it out until my contract is up.

I try to hold out for the 2 years, but lately I have been upgrading yearly. Now I'm wanting either a 9650 or the Slider (But I don't know how I can swing the slider being stuck in a CDMA 2 year contract)

It's every 2+ years for me. As a Grad student I wish I could afford to upgrade more often. so as of now I only upgrade if the device is REALLY good.

I get the customer loyalty upgrade on my line which is the primary line of 4 on my account, so I get a new Berry every year.

I am going to add a new line so going to a family plan and adding probably the 9650 ,but at times think I might add the incredible instead tho , but regardless keeping my 8330( my 1st berry) its just so simple to customize can't give it up .

So this year I will add a phone in 1 year probably be every 2 years after this but who knows
