I rarely text but I have to ask what is the point of keeping over 7500 messages
    on your phone?

I do get hundreds of emails (non-Moderator) per day and the ONLY ones I save
are the ones I have not acted on. Everything else is deleted after reading.

Options > status > menu button (left of trackball / trackpad) database sizes >
scroll to SMS messages > the first number is the message count, the second is
    the memory footprint.

Thanks a lot amazinglygraceless. sorry for jacking your thread yorkkid lol.

    Let me contribute:
I have 3100 on my 8520 that I've had for less than a month. I'd say that's pretty good.

I always delete my SMS/MMS and my e-mails (except for one account), just because I like to keep it organized, clean and efficiently running.

    i agree californiablackberry...
there's no point to have such clutter
read it and if it's not important then delete it.

no sense to keep the phone with lots of emails and sms messages...
    it just slows everything down...

Well sometimes when someone texts me something and one month later they say they never said it, I search it up on my lovely bb and prove them wrong. I've done this a couple times. Lol

on my bold i clear my texts everyday, my emails only every now and then though (i dont get as many, only 4-5 a day). i feel like if i have too many texts the phone takes longer to send texts. i dont know if it really does, but i still dont like wasting memory with thousands of old texts stored on my phone when its not necessary

well mine had like 3000 sms in inbox (from a couple weeks) and outbox had abotu 1000 or so. so mine can hold thousands of sms on the phone.

about 2000 were from same person.

but before that, i got the blackberry in december, and up til a couple weeks ago didnt delete any txts (had about 8000 before or so)

I go through my email and messages daily and delete the general BS stuff. I have very few that are over a week old.

yeah, since I have a 8330m I usually delete my sms and emails the day after I get them. I will save any important emails and then delete everything else. Try to reduce my use of memory....
