I remember before I ever got a Blackberry I thought they were made by Motorola. (Cut me some slack, I was a rookie.) Once I bought my very first 8703e on Verizon, I looked at the back of the holster that came with it and saw "RIM." I Googled it, and there it was. I learned about it in an instant.
I thought the exact same thing! It wasn't until a little before I got my Curve that I found out that RIM was a Canadian company... Good ol Wikipedia clued me in!.
