Due to the recent Tour/Bold swapathon it occured to me that between my wife and I, we've had quite a few BB's if you factor in replacements. Here's my running total, the best I can remember:

4 Pearls: All had trackball issues (I think it was my wifes hand lotion but she denies it)

3 Curves: 1 with trackball issues, 1 had non-functional GPS. I would have had more but I just started replacing the trackballs myself.

4 Tours: Only 1 with trackball issues suprisingly, 1 literally started falling apart, 1 I had for one day and it died, and this last one worked well except for the headphone jack.

1 9650 Bold: So far so good

3 Storm 2's: This is my wifes. I figured no trackball = good for her. The send button became un-clickable in both, and the 3rd is working good so far.

1 Bold 9000: This is for work. I've had it a while with no problems and it takes the most abuse of all my phones, past and present.

    Total: 16

The timeframe is about 3 years I guess. It all started with my wifes first Pearl, whenever Alltel first got them. I guess that was about 3 or so years ago. I can't remember.

I can't think of many other things that I would tolerate that sort of failure rate with. Even so, my wife and I still love our Blackberrys

I could easily say like 35 to 40 devices, ranging from the 7250 to my current 9650.

2 Pearls. The loss of the first was my fault. Dropped it into a cup of tea
    1 Curve 8310
1 Bold 9000. Stabbed by a pike pole.
1 8900. Suffered White screen of death. AT&T upgraded me to the 9700.
2 9700. Replaced because a moron at AT&T did not realize there was a tower issue.

    Total: 7

I just began working in the smartphone industry so it's not many, but I have misplaced:

-2 BB Curves (one I lost twice!)
    -1 BB Bold twice!
-1 iPhone (I don't discriminate against the phones I lose)
    -Countless other phones...

I punished myself by buying and using a Samsung for 3 months...
It was torture - worst UX ever!

It would be interesting to tally up how much money was spent on accessories for each of the BlackBerrys everyone has counted. Some have probably been dressed out better than their owners.

6 over 3 years - 2 curve 8320's, 2 Curve 8900's, 2 Bold 9700's. Lost one 8320 and got an insurance replacement. First 8900's trackball died so I got a warranty replacement, I would have just replaced the trackball if it wouldn't have voided the warranty. Finally, I had to use insurance to replace my first Bold after I dropped it in a horse's water tank. Of my devices, only one had to be replaced due to a defect.

    Just one.

It was a Curve 8900 that I bought last year in March and sold this past January to get a Droid. The BB was decent but just wasn't for me.

    1) The 9000 I have now. I plan to keep it until I either upgrade or change carriers next year. I want the 9800 eventually.

Accessories: $12 for charging pod, $85 for Klipsch Image S4 headphones (which will work on any new BlackBerry I get).

Man oh man. I'd rather not think about that. I've bought alot of cases over the years. Not just for BB's either. Not to mention chargers, docks, cords, etc.

Ahhhh. How could I forget. My Bold 9000 for work. So that makes 16. Oddly enough I haven't had that one replaced at all and it gets the most abuse by far.

I am seriously confused here. If any of you had more than 10 replacements of
devices that are all on one platform, why do you keep coming back.

My replacements have been 7, one accidental, one my fault, one AT&T ignorance,
3 upgrades and one total device failure.

If I had five failures that were the device or platforms fault I'd have been long
    gone. 10, 20, 30, 40+ seems insane to me.
