I own a 8520 and wonder how to switch data like calender, address book and mails to a different BB?
I make backups via the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac.
    Are those backups device specific?
How do I move the data mentioned above?

I did mine with the device switch option. Worked a treat. Only thing that might not transfer is 3rd party apps.

Alternatively if you sync with outlook of similar, you can do a one way sync from outlook to the BB.

Hook up your new BB, and restore with the backup file from your old one.

Dm should transfer everything including 3rd party apps just use the device switch wizard. However its a good idea to make a 3rd party apps backup also. You'll find instructions for that in the tips, how to & FAQ forum.

I'm not new to BBs just new to the Crackberry forums. Switching from 8830 to the Tour, I've used DM to switch devices but Text Messages have not transferred. I've done a comprehensive search on the internet and of the forums and still can't find how to do it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Using the dm would be the easiest way to do it.

Would marking all the texts as saved not help? Moving them to the other folder?
Hmmm thats a strange one though. Must be a way to do it.

Back them up into another folder?
